Job Description

Title: Manufacturing Engineering Technician
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
Member of the Operations team tasked with production and assembly of Wy’East Medical’s full product line.

Essential Job Functions – Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, inspect and test mechanical and electrical systems comprised of both hardware and software
    • Breakdown assemblies to logical path for assembly efficiency
    • Develop tools or jigs to ensure assembly procedure is correct
  • Perform machine set-up/operation and monitoring of tools and systems
  • Document all product build details and changes as needed
  • Develop work instructions and necessary documentation to assist in technical training of manufacturing staff
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to monitor equipment performance, diagnose root cause and make reliability improvement recommendations
  • Perform cycling of equipment and other pre-testing as well as visual inspection of components to specified criteria to ensure high quality
  • Notify management of any conditions felt as being undesirable or nonconforming to safety, product specification or procedures that cannot be performed as documented
  • Identify trends and opportunities to systemically improve quality, reduce cost, reduce lead time, and reduce scrap
  • Review new product designs and provide manufacturability feedback
  • Assembly of products can include:
    • Attach connectors using hand crimping tools
    • Connect to components using terminal blocks and modular connectors
    • Route and secure using zip-ties and cable clamps
    • Strip and tin wires using hand tools including soldering iron
    • Solder wires to components
    • Work with wire ranging from 26 to 14 gauge
  • Operation of light machinery
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment
  • Position requires periodic travel to conduct field service work in support of our customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Responsibilities to support the Team:

  • May perform any of the following to meet customer requirements/team daily objectives:
    • Pack and ship finished goods in a timely manner, including but not limited to the following: loading trucks with forklift, verifying correct material and quantity, performing system transactions, and processing shipping paperwork
    • Receive incoming material according to current receiving process, including quality inspection, and distribute incoming material to correct locations
    • Inventory cycle counting, picking/kitting and other inventory related tasks

  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Proficient PC skills, including experience with Microsoft Suite and basic knowledge of CAD systems
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree highly desirable
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in high mix electromechanical manufacturing environment
  • Preferred 2 years of industrial/technical education or relevant experience
  • Ability to perform high school level math, including understanding the metric system and conversions between Imperial (English) and metric units
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD systems a plus

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Operating a forklift (will train)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work while continuously standing for up to 10 hours
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Willing to receive necessary vaccinations and credentialling in order to travel and enter customer facilities

Work Environment:

  • Standard manufacturing environment with various types of equipment
  • Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn

Schedule:

  • 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday and may adjust at discretion of management
  • Occasional overtime as per the needs of the business
